Teens for Tots: You Can Also Volunteer to Give a Needy Child a Birthday Party
In Birthday Angels we believe in the value of volunteerism. For us, social responsibility and Tikkun Olam are not just slogans.
If you also feel this way you can be inspired by the many groups of teenagers across the country who felt dedicated to social action and giving children whose parents could not provide a birthday party for their children, the opportunity to share this invaluable experience.
If you would like to join the Birthday Angels "Circle of Giving" and volunteer to provide parties for needy children, contact us right away and we will help you, train you, guide you, provide you with a Party Kit and be the liaison between you and a needy child.
Here are some outstanding examples of initiatives taken by Teens for Tots this year:
Kiryat Malachi - Teenagers at risk learned how to run parties and give a party every week to a child from the area who otherwise could never have been able to celebrate with a party. They provided over 35 parties for children in their community. (1,400 children involved)
Matnas Kadima – a group of 11 10th-12th Graders met each week for a year to learn the art of becoming a birthday party facilitator and gave over 20 parties to children in the neighborhood. (800 children were involved in the parties).
When you work hard ... This is the result!
Kfar Saba and Ramat Hasharon - We collaborated with the municipal youth departments to give their teenagers training and materials so that they could run parties in their neighbourhoods. Collectively they gave 55 parties this past year (2,200 children in parties).
Caesarea - a class of 6th Graders from the Caesarea Elementary School went into the Pardes Chana Neveh Michael Children's Shelter and ran 6 parties for the children there all of whom had never celebrated their birthday before. They also ran a fundraising event at their school and raised 4,000 NIS for Birthday Angels. (240 children in parties).
What do I wish for? If only my wishes would come true!
Tzofim Alfei Menashe -Ran 25 parties for the children in their community as well as 16 parties in bomb shelters during the Gaza War earlier this year. (1700 children participated all in all).
Noam Raanana - High School kids from the Conservative Youth Movement Noam ran 10 parties for new immigrants in the absorption center in Ranana. (25 children X 10 parties, 250 children).
Everyone loves me ... Here's the proof!
A group of Bat Mitzvah, 6th Graders from Moshav Maor heard about Birthday Angels and asked to volunteer for children in near-by Or Akiva. We connected between the Or Mair after school center and these 20 girls are being trained to do parties for these children who have never known the joy.
Netanya – We collaborated with the Youth Volunteer department of the Netanya Municipality and the 15 teenagers who participated ran over 35 birthday parties. They were awarded the Mayor's Prize for Service to the Community this year in a ceremony held in August. (1,400 children experienced the parties). Netanya Municipality youth volunteer department has registered 50 teenagers for training for 2009/2010
