Two years ago a mild mannered sweet woman came up to our table at the
CAJE 2007 convention and introduced herself. She had been very involved with the ZIV TZEDAKA FUND and was a good friend of Danny Siegel. She had worked with Andrea Milman from Vancouver and had heard about Birthday Angels through Danny and Andrea.
Three months later she ran a
Dispel the Darkness campaign for Chanukah with the
community of students and parents raising money each night for a different cause. Birthday Angels was one of the tzedaka projects highlighted.
Anne continued to spread the message of Birthday Angels throughout her community and had brought scores of people into the Birthday Angels Circle of Giving. Anne continues to act as a
local liaison in Vancouver in the many Jewish circles with whom she is involved.
This year in November Anne hosted me for a week in Vancouver and arranged over 10 visits to schools, synagogues, teenage youth groups and mitzvah groups so that I could present the program.
Without Anne's help we could never have pulled off the
CYBER PARTY that was held in Ramat Hasharon, Israel and Vancouver simultaneously. The children in both venues celebrated together, sang happy birthday and filled out the Mandala Board from the new Teenage Magic Circle Party which Birthday Angels launched this fall.
It was an emotionally packed event for the children in Israel and the participants in Vancouver.
The expression "still waters run deep" was coined for Anne. In her quiet way she moves mountains.
We want to thank Anne, praise her and adulate her for her outstanding work in the community and for making Birthday Angels a household name throughout the Jewish community of Vancouver.
