Chery Einhorn lives in Thornhill and became involved two years ago in Birthday Angels. A mother of three and teacher she also has her own millinery business. Time is not something she has a lot to spare. But she wanted to bring the Birthday Angels message out to the Greater Toronto community. The idea was to hold a children's art auction which would give the kids a chance to think about the project while they were preparing their pictures and would let all the families hear about the project.
Together with Joan Pollack and the Weizmann Science Canada team they pulled together an incredible interactive event The Toronto Art Extravaganza that involved 9 schools, 350 children and their families and raised $4000, enough to give well over 100 Israeli children a birthday party!
It took months of planning, phoning, collecting the artwork, judging it, framing and coordinating what culminated in a wonderful party for over 300 people.
The Netivot Choir gave an incredible performance and the guests got a taste of cake decorating and close-up magic.
You don't need to be a magician to make the magic happen. You just need Angels like Cheryl, Joan, Michael Meyer, the Toronto Birthday Angels dedicated committee and share the common belief we all have in ANGELS.
