On March 28th,
Samantha Wigley from
Ponca City, Oklohoma, was called to the Torah at Temple Emanuel.
Samantha began preparing for her
Bat Mitzvah months before. Not only did she read from the Torah, she led the services and gave a d'var torah explaning the significance of what she read. But she was also busy preparing her project for
Tikkun Olam. Her mother, Cindy, ordered a
Birthday Angels Party Kit so that Samantha could bring the message of Birthday Angels to her friends. Needless to say, as seriously as she prepared for her service, she prepared and executed a
Birthday Angels party. Cindy included a letter along with the check that would sponsor
25 birthday parties for children in Israel.

Samantha's Bat Mitzvah was a huge success. Despite the forecast of the biggest snowstorm in many years, we had nearly 100 attending.
Samantha did a great job and everyone was very impressed when she read from the Torah.
The kids had fun playing some of the games from the Birthday Angels Kit we had ordered. And of course we danced and ate lots of cake! Samantha had raised and collected enough money for 16 birthday parties before her Bat Mitzvah and now she'd like to donate money for 9 more. Please accept her donation in honor of her special day! I know she hopes these kids will have as much fun as she did at her party.

I believe that doing the work of mitzvoth brings the greatest joy to those who do it.
However, our neediest children will be thrilled with the opportunity they've been given by the generosity and hard work and genuine care that Samantha and her family have shown.
