Dear Donor,
Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to be an integral part of the generous donation that was given to me in the form of a birthday kit.
There are not enough words to describe the beam of expression on the face of my “flower child”, Zelka Likui, who was able to finally smile beyond his unspoken words.
Like the startling sound of an alarm clock’s “good morning,” thus was I able to observe the happiness of this nine year old child, who, for the first time in his life, thanks to you, celebrated his birthday.
I thought to myself, “How can I take advantage of this moment; how can I exploit it to its fullest – learn from life, and not forget moments after the fact, what I have taken in?”
I arranged a party and invested far more than was incumbent upon me. I joined the festivities by dressing up as a clown and led a few competitive type games that the children enjoyed.
My “flower child’s” classmates smiled throughout, and were extremely delighted. We set a lovely table full of candy, as well as a birthday cake with candles. I handed out the little prizes, and all the children thanked me, but they were thanking you, as well.
Some of the classmates gave Zelka gifts, and some wrote him warm greetings, or drew a picture. I was smitten with emotion.
Zelk’a parents attended the party as well. They were amazed and overwhelmed by the great joy Zelka experienced. It was a beautiful party, and they also praise and thank you. I believe that this experience will give little Zelka the gentle nudge of encouragement needed to enable him to take a step forward.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, dear donator, and “Perach” to have bestowed upon me this great privilege. I also thank the Lord, blessed be He, who has enabled me this possibility to give.
May you be blessed with “mitzvot” and good deeds, and may there be many more like you in Israel.
Yours,
Esther Elgrisi, Zelka's mentor
